Making the Right Choice
  • Do they use reputable manufactures products, such as Norandex, GAF, Owen's Corning, etc.?
  • What are they known for? Obviously, don't hire a plumber or paving contractor to build a room addition.
  • Are they licensed and insured?
  • Are they a member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau?
  • Are they a company with a proven track record?
There is a 90% failure rate for 1st year home improvement companies.
  • Physically look at job’s that they have done.
  • Personally talk to previous customers to see if they were satisfied with all aspects of the job. I.e. workers, workmanship, timing, price, quality, job cleanliness, etc
  • Get several estimates and compare them, “apples to apples”. Is each company going to deliver the same attention to detail? Not all companies installations even meet manufacturers standards, and certainly even fewer exceed them. This can be difficult to determine because of the value of workmanship.
  • Do you feel you are being given a slick sales speech, or are you being given the facts?
  • How long is their labor warranty? It does make a difference.
  • Do they have industry certifications?
